I have always been interested in the outdoors and my family has always enjoyed hunting and fishing.  When I was 12 years old, I went to Illinois to visit my grandparents.  My Papaw asked if I wanted to try shooting clay targets in their back yard.  Imagine how excited I was when he handed me the single-shot, .410 shotgun that my dad learned to shoot with.  After a quick safety lesson and coaching, I pulled the trigger of my first shotgun.  Needless to say, I wasn't too successful or impressed.  After a few shots, I decided that shotgunning wasn't for me.  We decided to put away the shotgun and go fishing instead.  A funny thing happened the rest of that day...I couldn't get clay target shooting out of my head.  "Why didn't I hit them?  What was I doing wrong?  What if I gave them a little more lead?  I think I was shooting way too high".  I knew that I was going to return to Ohio the following day, so later that evening, I asked my Papaw if I could try it again.  Of course, he said, "Yes!".  I picked up my gun and back to the thrower we went.  Needless to say, I started breaking a lot of targets and it's been under my skin ever since!

I started shooting SCTP American Trap for Centerburg Youth Shooting Sports at the age of 13 and ATA singles, doubles, and handicaps shortly after.  The highlight of my rookie year was winning the Ohio State Trapshooting Association Intermediate Entry Ladies Division.  After my first win, I became obsessed with the sport, constantly improving, and setting my next goals of shooting Sporting Clays, Skeet, Bunker Trap, and being selected as a member of the SCTP All-Scholastic, All-Ohio, and All-American Teams

Beyond shooting, my hobbies include fishing, hunting, and 4H.  I look forward to fishing year-round in ponds and lakes for panfish, bass, and catfish, and jigging for walleye on Lake Erie in the Spring.  I look forward to dove season in September and whitetail deer season in Illinois in November

For my 4H projects, I have a small herd of Boer goats that I tend to year-round.  We breed them in the fall, deliver the kids in January-February, and work with them all spring and summer to get them ready to show in August.  I also use 4H projects as a tool to promote the shooting sports and recruit new shooters.  I was honored to be selected by my county to present my shotgun shooting sports project at the Ohio State Fair in 2022.  I thoroughly enjoy 4H, the life-lessons it has taught me, and all of the people associated with it.  When I'm not shooting, you will find me in the barn tending to my animals.

In the summer of 2022, I applied for and was accepted as a ZooAide volunteer at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.  I have enjoyed working at the Zoo and getting to share my passion for animals with kids and the general public.  Stop by and say "Hi" sometime!

Thanks for reading about me and I'll see you at the range, in the field, on the water, at the zoo, or in the show ring!
